The Grainger twins have arrived!!! And let me preface this entry by saying that Brooks and I have decided to post photos on our blog rather than sell them to the paparazzi out of fairness to Brad and Angelina. At 5:30 a.m. today Brooks' water finally broke. What a surreal experience - 38 weeks of pregnancy and in an instant the twins decide it's time to come out and meet the world. Because one of the babies was breached, we knew all along that Brooks was going to have a C-section. As a result, there was really no labor involved. We got to the hospital at 6:30 a.m., and at 8:25 Carolyn Mason Grainger (Mason) was born. One minute later Isaac Bates Grainger V (Ike) was born. Mason weighed in at 6 lbs. 6 oz. and Ike tipped the scales at 6 lbs. 10 oz. Everything went fine with the birth and, despite some expected discomfort from the C-section, Brooks has been a trooper and is in great health and spirits.
Not long after the arrival of Mason and Ike, we were all joined in Brooks' hospital room by Carolyn, Bob, Callum and Deede. As you can guess, the twins received a lot of TLC from their grandparents. My dad will be here on Tuesday to meet his grandchildren, as will my grandparents, Big and Martha.
Tonight, the feedings have already started and Mason has proven that she has a very healthy appetite. Ike seems to be more content to sleep rather than eat. I guess he takes after me!

They look very cute. Congrats to both of you!
Congrats, Bates and Brooks! They are very adorable. Your twins share a birthday with my sister, the WNBA player. They were both big, so maybe you have a couple of hoops stars on your hands. :)
